Celebrate the little wins

We often get so many things on our to-do lists that we don’t stop and really appreciate achieving our goals.

Now, I love a list.  Sometimes I’ll even write things down I’ve already done that day just so I can mark them off.  And even though that may sound a little crazy, I think it helps to give me a little happiness boost.

It reminds me of what I’ve accomplished.  And gives me that little pat on the back that no one else may be handing out.

This is a way to practice not only mindfulness but also gratitude.  You’re being mindful of what you want to accomplish during your day.  And then you’re acknowledging that you did it!

Say “Thank you!” to yourself.

Planning out your day (or even your week) is a great way to be intentional about how you use your time.  Like Tony Robbins says, “If you schedule it, it’s real.”  Schedule in time to get things done and run errands but also schedule in time to play, time to take a nap, time to read, or time for a walk.

When you see it on your schedule you’ll be more likely to actually do it and then get the added benefit of feeling accomplished too.

Just remember to stop and be appreciative of the steps you’re taking to be mindful of your time and CELEBRATE the little wins.  Everything you do has the opportunity to be something you can choose to celebrate.

TODAY make a list of things you need to get done but also at least 2 activities you want to do just for yourself.

For example, make a cup of herbal tea.  Then celebrate the relaxing 5 minutes it will take you to drink that tea.  And you’re also reaping the benefits of herbal teas!  Or try coloring in one of your kid’s coloring books for just 5 minutes. Celebrate the achievement of staying in the lines (or not!), using all of the crayons or just sitting down to do it at all.

Don’t forget to mark it off your list!
